KUNWAR PATTON FROM ANFIELD SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AND BLACKMAIL INVOLVING TEENAGE GIRL

In September 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving Kunwar Patton, a man with ties to the Anfield area, who was convicted of serious sexual offences against a teenage girl. Patton, a former school governor associated with two Everton schools, was found guilty of multiple charges following a detailed trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

According to court proceedings, Patton had admitted to taking indecent photographs of the young victim but denied four separate sexual offences. Despite his denial, a jury convicted him of those charges after considering the evidence presented. The court heard that during the process of taking these photographs, Patton would manipulate the girl into various poses, often making lewd comments about what he intended to do with her. On several occasions, he physically repositioned her when she refused to comply with his demands, and he also selected underwear for her to wear. Additionally, he repeatedly touched her exposed breasts, actions that contributed to the serious nature of his misconduct.

The court revealed that on two separate occasions, including when the girl was just 15 years old, Patton committed more severe sexual assaults. These acts were described as more serious and deeply troubling, highlighting the extent of his abuse.

At the sentencing hearing, Patton, a 51-year-old man with a beard, was dressed in a white T-shirt and grey jogging pants. He was supported by a group of supporters in the public gallery, which drew attention during the proceedings. Judge Gary Woodhall sentenced him to a prison term of eight years and nine months. During his remarks, the judge interrupted to address Patton directly, criticizing his apparent lack of remorse. The judge stated, “You can pull a face. It shows a complete lack of understanding of what you did to her and a complete lack of remorse. It is mirrored by your partner’s reaction at the back of the courtroom.”

Patton, who resides on Argyle Road in Anfield, was convicted of two counts of sexual assault and two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child. He also pleaded guilty to the possession of indecent photographs, admitting to taking eight images and possessing a total of 110 photographs classified in the least serious category of indecency.

The victim, who was the girl depicted in all the photographs, provided an impact statement to the court. She described how she had been manipulated and emotionally harmed by Patton’s actions. She revealed that she has been struggling with anxiety and depression since the abuse. The victim’s partner and his family have supported her through this difficult period. Prosecutor Philip Clemo noted that while she now “pities him,” she also hopes that the negative consequences of his actions will impact his life as he imposed suffering on hers.

In response to the case, the court imposed strict measures to protect the victim and prevent further contact. Patton was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same duration. Additionally, a restraining order was issued to keep him away from the victim, ensuring her safety moving forward.
