KEVIN CRABB FROM HULL AND SLEAFORD SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AT LINCOLNSHIRE SCHOOL

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local communities, Kevin Crabb, a former headteacher with ties to Hull and Sleaford, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for a series of serious sexual offences committed against young girls. The crimes took place over a span of several years and involved multiple victims, highlighting a disturbing breach of trust by someone in a position of authority.

Kevin Crabb, aged 54, previously served as the headteacher at Wawne Primary School, located north of Hull, from 1994 until 2007. His tenure at the school was marred by revelations of his misconduct, which ultimately led to his conviction. The offences for which he was sentenced occurred while he was working as a deputy headteacher at a different school near Sleaford, Lincolnshire, during the late 1980s and early 1990s. These earlier incidents only came to light in 2007, when a victim came forward and contacted the police, prompting an investigation that uncovered a pattern of inappropriate behaviour.

Following the allegations, Crabb was immediately suspended from his position at Wawne Primary School. The legal proceedings revealed that he had committed nine counts of indecent assault and two charges of indecency with a child. During the trial, Crabb, who resides on Cawood Crescent in Skirlaugh, admitted to six charges of indecent assault. However, he was found guilty of an additional three charges of indecent assault and two counts of indecency with a child after a thorough court examination.

The nature of his offences was particularly disturbing, involving inappropriate touching of his victims, exposing himself, and allowing a young girl to touch him inappropriately. These acts betrayed the trust placed in him as an educator and a role model for children. Judge Michael Heath, presiding over the case at Lincoln Crown Court, delivered a stern sentence, emphasizing the gravity of Crabb’s actions. The judge stated, “The only sentence I can justify for these offences is imprisonment. In many respects, you were a dedicated teacher, and I appreciate you have lost your career, possibly your home, and certainly your relationship.”

As part of his sentence, Crabb was ordered to register as a sex offender and was prohibited from working with children in any capacity. His past employment history includes teaching roles at Alderman Cogan C of E Primary School in east Hull from 1975 to 1985, and at Sproatley Primary School from 1985 to 1988. The East Riding Council issued a statement expressing their support for the sentence, stating, “We welcome the four-and-a-half year sentence handed down to Kevin Crabb, which reflects the serious nature of the offences he committed at a time when he was employed in a position of trust and responsibility in a Lincolnshire school.” The council also confirmed that Crabb is no longer employed by them and is barred from holding any position within a school environment, underscoring their commitment to safeguarding children and maintaining trust within educational institutions.
