Hull Sexual Abuser

April 2011 College lecturer resigns after police find 4,000 child porn images on his computers A COLLEGE lecturer resigned after he was caught with thousands of images of child pornography. Richard Morgan, who taught aspiring electricians at Hull College, had more than 4,000 images on two laptop computers. The father-of-two, 51, has since resigned. Police raided his home in Kenilworth Avenue, west Hull, after officers from Interpol discovered he had downloaded images from a website they were investigating. Hull Crown Court heard more than 260 of the images fell into the most serious categories of abuse and involved babies and children. Morgan had deleted the images before his arrest, but they were found following a forensic examination of the laptops. When police visited his home following his initial arrest, he told them: “I thought I had got rid of them all. I couldn’t see them. “It was something I did for six months and realised it was madness and I got over it.” He admitted 16 offences of making indecent photographs of children and one count of possessing indecent images of children. For the prosecution, Nigel Clive said officers found 4,292 images. Mr Clive said: “There is no connection between the defendant’s behaviour and these offences and the college or the students there.” Representing Morgan, Simon Hirst said his wife and two adult daughters had stood by him. Mr Hirst said: “He has spoken to a counsellor and arranged for counselling sessions.” Judge Simon Jack said: “You have got a family who are clearly very proud of you and who have stood by you and you have let them down. “I hope you are going to put all of this behind you.” Judge Jack sentenced him to six months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered him to take part in a sex offender treatment programme. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for seven years. A spokesperson for the college said: “The college is able to confirm the allegations against Mr Morgan do not concern any other staff member or student. The college has robust safeguarding arrangements in place for the safety and security of all of our staff and students.”
