RICHARD MORGAN FROM HULL CAUGHT WITH THOUSANDS OF CHILD PORN IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Hull, Richard Morgan, a college lecturer, was found to be in possession of an alarming number of child pornography images. The incident came to light in April 2011 when police uncovered more than 4,000 illicit images stored on two of his laptop computers. Morgan, who was employed at Hull College teaching aspiring electricians, was a father of two and aged 51 at the time of his arrest.

The investigation was initiated after Interpol agents identified that Morgan had downloaded images from a website under their surveillance. This led to a police raid on his residence located in Kenilworth Avenue, a well-known area in west Hull. During the search, authorities discovered that Morgan had attempted to delete the images from his devices, but forensic analysis of his laptops revealed the presence of over 4,000 images, with more than 260 classified in the most severe categories of abuse, involving infants and young children.

According to court proceedings at Hull Crown Court, Morgan admitted to 16 counts of creating indecent photographs of children and a further charge of possessing such images. During police interviews, Morgan expressed a sense of remorse, stating, “I thought I had got rid of them all. I couldn’t see them. It was something I did for six months and realised it was madness and I got over it.” His comments reflected a recognition of the gravity of his actions, though they did little to mitigate the severity of the charges.

Prosecutor Nigel Clive emphasized that the images found on Morgan’s devices were not connected to his professional environment at Hull College or to any students or staff members. Clive stated, “There is no connection between the defendant’s behaviour and the college or the students there.” The court was also informed that Morgan’s wife and two adult daughters had remained supportive throughout the ordeal, with his legal representative, Simon Hirst, noting that Morgan had sought counselling and was actively engaging in therapy to address his issues.

Judge Simon Jack addressed Morgan directly, remarking on the impact of his actions on his family. “You have got a family who are clearly very proud of you and who have stood by you and you have let them down,” he said. The judge expressed hope that Morgan would be able to move past this dark chapter in his life.

Ultimately, Judge Jack sentenced Morgan to six months in prison, suspended for two years, and mandated his participation in a sex offender treatment programme. Additionally, Morgan was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years. A spokesperson for Hull College issued a statement affirming that the allegations did not involve any other staff or students and reassured the public that the college maintained strict safeguarding measures to ensure the safety and security of everyone involved.
