JUSTIN MILLER AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
Justin Miller, a 20-year-old resident of Everest Road, Kidsgrove, has been sentenced to 21 months in detention at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court following a disturbing series of sexual assault incidents involving two schoolgirls in an alleyway within Stoke-on-Trent.The court examined the details of the incident, which took place during the COVID-19 lockdown period.
It emerged that one of the young victims had just moments earlier been attempting to break up a lunchtime altercation between Miller and another man.
During this period of heightened tension and social restrictions, Miller's behavior escalated into criminal and frightening misconduct.
Prosecutor Caroline Harris provided a detailed account of the assault.
She explained that one of the girls felt a hand pass across her bottom, prompting her to turn around and confront the offender.
Upon seeing Miller, she was asked intrusive questions about her age and whether she had a boyfriend.
Miller then placed his head close to hers, causing her to become frightened and run to her friend for safety.
The victim managed to push him away and, in an effort to deter him, told him she had a boyfriend, hoping this would make him retreat.
Despite her attempts to distance herself, Miller persisted.
He followed her, at least three times putting his arm around her and touching toward her genital area.
The girl, visibly distressed, began to cry.
She then told her friends that she wanted to go home.
Miller, however, suggested they should all go to his house, further escalating the threat.
Meanwhile, the second girl was also targeted.
Miller touched her leg and ran his hand up her thigh towards her genital area, contributing to the overall malicious nature of his actions.
Following the incident, police were swiftly called.
The girls fled to a nearby house, where they reported what had happened.
Authorities subsequently searched Miller’s residence and uncovered a sex toy in a suitcase, which was considered evidence of his inappropriate intentions.
During questioning, Miller expressed that he found one of the girls attractive.
The traumatic experience had a lasting impact on the victims.
The first girl revealed that she did not leave her house for five days afterward, overwhelmed by fear.
She described her feelings, stating, "I thought he was going to grab me and rape me.
The incident made me feel scared to leave the house." Miller admitted to three counts of sexual assault, pleading guilty to the charges.
His defense lawyer, Paul Cliff, argued that Miller was intoxicated at the time and emphasized that the contact was over clothing, brief, and without actual physical contact with the genitals or breasts.
The court took a serious view of the matter.
Miller was ordered to register as a sex offender and subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting ten years.
Judge Sally Hancox highlighted the severity of the case, especially noting the terror experienced by the first victim.
She also considered the probation service’s high-risk assessment, indicating that Miller poses a significant threat of causing serious harm to children, particularly females up to 16 years old, and potentially to any female, adult or child, whom he might fixate upon.
