JORDAN ODAM FROM CREWE SENTENCED FOR CRUELTY TO DOG ANGEL IN CHESHIRE

In a disturbing case of animal cruelty that unfolded in Crewe, Jordan David Odom, born on 13 November 1996, was found guilty of inflicting severe abuse on a defenseless dog named Angel. Odom, who most recently resided on Hungerford Road in Crewe with the postcode CW1 6HG, was involved in a series of violent acts against the animal that drew the attention of local authorities and animal welfare organizations.

According to reports, the incident occurred on July 2, 2020, when Cheshire Police received distressing reports of a Staffy being subjected to brutal treatment. An eyewitness came forward, describing a horrifying scene where Jordan Odom was seen grabbing Angel by the scruff of her neck and forcefully throwing her away from him. The witness recounted that Odom repeated this aggressive behavior multiple times, picking up the dog and hurling her in different directions before finally kicking her with force.

The RSPCA was promptly called to investigate the allegations. An inspection of Angel revealed alarming injuries, including scleral haemorrhages in her eye, which are indicative of head trauma caused by blunt force. Veterinarians also conducted blood tests that showed elevated levels of enzymes typically released when muscles are injured or traumatized, further confirming the severity of the abuse.

Following a thorough investigation, Odom was charged and subsequently convicted of two animal welfare offences. The case was prosecuted with the support of the RSPCA inspector Leanne Cragg, who expressed her strong disapproval of such violent behavior towards animals. She stated, “Aggressive behaviour towards animals is never acceptable and I’m glad that Angel can now be found a loving new home.” She also emphasized the importance of witness bravery, saying, “I am extremely grateful to the witness for their bravery in coming forward and reporting this to us, it’s only because of them that we were able to help Angel.”

In sentencing, Odom received an 18-month community order, which includes 20 days of rehabilitation activities and 140 hours of unpaid work. Additionally, he was ordered to pay £2,495 in costs and charges. As part of his punishment, Odom was disqualified from keeping any animals for a period of five years, a ban that will expire in May 2026. However, he retains the right to appeal this decision after three years.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts of local authorities and animal welfare groups in Crewe and Cheshire to combat animal cruelty and ensure that offenders are held accountable for their actions.
