RONALD MAXTED SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CRIMES AGAINST SIX-YEAR-OLD GIRLS IN CREWE AND SANDBACH
In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Crewe and Sandbach, Ronald Maxted, a 45-year-old man, has been convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual assault of young girls. The offences, which spanned several years, include multiple counts of rape and indecent assault against a six-year-old girl, as well as an additional charge of sexually assaulting another young girl of the same age.Maxted, who resides on Palmer Road in Sandbach but was previously known to live in Crewe, was brought before Liverpool Crown Court to face justice for his actions. The court heard that he was found guilty of ten separate instances of raping the young girl, along with two counts of indecently assaulting her. Additionally, he was convicted of sexually assaulting another six-year-old girl, further compounding the severity of his crimes.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge David Boulton expressed his grave concerns about the danger Maxted poses to the public. While he initially considered a fixed-term sentence of 18 years, the judge ultimately decided on an indeterminate sentence for public protection, citing the significant risk of serious harm that Maxted presents. The court ordered that Maxted serve a minimum of nine years before he can seek parole, and he was also mandated to register as a sex offender for life.
Judge Boulton was particularly critical of Maxted’s attitude throughout the proceedings. He described as “astonishing” the fact that Maxted had subjected the six-year-old victim to the ordeal of giving evidence in court, despite the overwhelming evidence against him. The victim, now a teenager, had to relive her traumatic experience in front of the court.
The judge emphasized that Maxted had shown no remorse or acceptance of responsibility for his actions. A probation officer’s report highlighted his complete lack of awareness regarding the impact of his crimes on the victims. The judge pointed out that Maxted’s offending was both repetitive and premeditated, driven by his own sexual gratification. After the initial victim finally rejected his advances, Maxted’s perverted focus shifted to another young girl, demonstrating a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.
Historical allegations also surfaced during the trial, revealing that Maxted was accused of molesting another six-year-old girl in 1989. However, this case was eventually dropped and did not lead to a conviction.
Prosecutor Meirion Lewis-Jones detailed that the offences involving the most recent victim came to light in February, with the victim herself reporting the abuse to police two months later. When questioned, Maxted, who has no prior criminal record, denied all allegations, maintaining his innocence throughout the proceedings.
The sentencing marks a significant step in the pursuit of justice for the young victims and underscores the severity with which the court views such predatory crimes against children.
