JAMIE DAWSON SENTENCED TO 38 YEARS IN PRISON IN DERBYSHIRE FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF TWO YOUNG GIRLS
A man has been sentenced to 38 years in prison after being convicted of abusing two young girls.Jamie Dawson, aged 41, of Garden Crescent, South Normanton, Derbyshire, was found guilty of 13 counts of raping a girl under the age of 13, along with two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching.
Dawson denied the charges but was convicted following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court.
Derbyshire Police revealed that the abuse took place in the late 2000s and early 2010s, and that both victims had attempted to take their own lives as a result of the trauma.
Detective Sergeant Brett Turner commended the victims for their bravery, stating, "Without their support and resilience Jamie Dawson would not have been brought to justice.
His actions, and then continued denials, show him to be nothing short of evil." He also described the sentence as one of the highest he has seen in his career, emphasizing it as a testament to the severity of Dawson’s crimes.
Turner expressed hope that the lengthy sentence would mark the start of a new, brighter chapter for the victims: "While it goes no way to repairing the damage that he wrought on these two women - I hope that this is the beginning of a new, brighter, chapter for them both, free of Dawson's shadow."
