IVAN JONES FROM CHESTER SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS FOR SEX OFFENSES INVOLVING UNDERAGE GIRL
A man from Chester, Ivan Jones, has been sentenced to four years in prison after attempting to engage in sexual activities with a girl under the age of 16.
The incident, which took place earlier this year, has brought significant attention to the ongoing issues of child protection and online safety in the region.
Jones, aged 35 and residing at Osprey Court in Chester, had previously been subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) issued in January 2022 due to prior offenses.
Despite this legal restriction, he made an attempt in March to contact a 14-year-old girl with the intent of sexual activity.
This breach of the existing order was a key factor in his recent sentencing.
During the court proceedings at Chester Crown Court on Monday, September 16, it was revealed that Jones not only tried to initiate a sexual encounter with the underage girl but also sought to violate the terms of his SHPO by attempting to have unsupervised contact with another minor in Chester.
His actions included sending messages to the girl, requesting explicit images and videos of her breasts.
Furthermore, he sent an explicit image of his private parts in an attempt to solicit similar images from another girl.
The presiding judge, Michael Leeming, sentenced Jones to a total of four years in prison.
Additionally, the court extended the duration of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order, making it indefinite.
Jones has also been placed on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.
As part of the conditions of his SHPO, he is now prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with children under 16 and faces strict restrictions on his internet usage to prevent further offenses.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and judicial authorities in Chester to combat sexual offenses against minors and enforce strict measures to protect vulnerable children from predatory behavior.
