A man convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Chester has received a prison sentence.
Gareth Griffiths was given a nine-year term at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, 6 May.
The 46-year-old resident of Wordsworth Crescent, Chester, had previously been convicted of sexual assault along with two counts of assault by penetration.
In addition, he had earlier admitted to deliberately suffocating someone and committed two further assaults in an unrelated case.
The court was told that Griffiths attended a birthday celebration at a residence in Blacon in November 2023.
Throughout that evening, he made sexual remarks to the victim, an 18-year-old woman, and touched her inappropriately.
Later that night, the victim fell asleep at the location and woke up to Griffiths sexually assaulting her.
The following day, she reported the incident to Cheshire Constabulary, leading to Griffiths's arrest and subsequent charges.
