Graham Blissett

Honiton Sexual Abuser

May 2016 Honiton grandfather jailed after admitting possessing indecent images A Honiton grandfather has been jailed after he persuaded a paedophile in Australia to send him pictures of young boys being abused. Graham Blissett already had a previous conviction for downloading images from the internet when he was caught doing it again on two different occasions. The search histories on his laptops showed he had hunted for images of young and adolescent nudist boys and had also been in touch with a suspected abuser in his native Australia . Blissett went out and bought a new laptop when police seized his first computer and used it to access more images and movies after wiping monitoring software installed by the public protection team. The 71-year-old grandfather was well known in the community in Honiton where he was the captain of his local skittles team. Blissett, of Westcott Way , Honiton, admitted 13 offences of possessing indecent images and was jailed for a total of 20 months by Recorder Mr Stephen Parish at Exeter Crown Court. He told him:”I note that details of the movies include entitled ‘Slide show for Graham from Billy’. You are Graham and Billy is a contact in Australia . There is an explanation as to how the producer of the movie knows the boys. “This indicates how relatively close you were to the abuse of the boys concerned. You admitted the first offences but then purchased a new lap top. “When you upgraded to Windows 10 it had the effect of, which I accept was not deliberate, of removing the police monitoring programme. You then downloaded more images of young children. “If that was not bad enough, you have a conviction from 2006 for possession of indecent images for which you received a community order. “Despite your age, your guilty pleas, and ill health, I am quite unable to deal with this by anything other than an immediate sentence. “The aggravating features are your previous conviction, the young age of some of the children, the presence of movies as well as still images, and the deliberate searching for these images.” Mr Michael Brown, prosecuting, said Blissett was first convicted of similar offences in 2006 and was being monitored as a registered sex offender. Police searched his home in November 2014 and seized equipment on which they found 12 stills and 45 movies of boys aged ten to 15 including 21 movies at category A which shows serious abuse. There was a delay while the images were analysed and in October 2015 he got a new laptop on which police software was installed which should have alerted officers if he accessed any inappropriate sites. He upgraded the computer and although he informed the police they did not reinstall the programme. His home was searched again in February this year and 40 fresh images were found, some showing girls as young as five and boys as young as eight. Checks on the two machines showed search terms including ‘ten-year-old boy nudist’; ‘pretty boys naked’ and ‘nude puberty boys’. February 2016 Pensioner admits charges of possessing indecent pictures and movies of children A 71 year old Devon pensioner has admitted nine charges of possessing indecent pictures and movies of children. Graham Blissett, of Westcott Way, Honiton, appeared from custody at Exeter magistrates court. The court heard two dozen of the movies and photos were from the most serious category. His lawyer, Peter Seigne, said:”It is out in the open. He has to face the consequences in a positive way.” He said Blissett, who has medical issues, wanted to ‘clear it up’ and get help and didn’t want to end up in prison for the first time at his age. He was bailed and will be sentenced next month but was warned that all options remain open to the court including custody.
