CHARLENE WINTER'S BRUTAL ATTACK ON NEIGHBOUR'S DUCK IN LITTLEHAMPTON
In a disturbing incident that shocked the community of Littlehampton, Charlene Winter, born circa 1979 and residing at Wick Parade, Wick, was involved in a violent and cruel attack on her neighbour’s ducks.The incident, which took place early in the morning, was captured on CCTV and revealed a shocking display of animal cruelty fueled by alcohol consumption.
According to reports, Winter had been drinking prior to the attack, which seemed to have been triggered by the quacking sounds made by the ducks.
Witnesses and the homeowner’s footage showed Winter entering her neighbour’s garden in a state of intoxication, accompanied by her dog.
The footage clearly depicted her aggressive behavior as she launched an unprovoked assault on the defenseless birds.
The CCTV footage captured the moment Winter, visibly enraged, began to chase and physically attack the ducks.
The footage showed her stamping on one of the birds’ necks, an act that resulted in the bird’s death.
The attack was so severe that Winter’s dog was also seen participating in the assault, mauling the injured bird before Winter eventually left the scene.
The entire incident occurred around 8 a.m.
on September 3, 2012, and was recorded by a camera installed by the homeowner to monitor their property.
Post-mortem examinations confirmed that the duck died from a compressive trauma, specifically from being squashed with a heavy object.
The RSPCA inspector, Andrew Kirby, described the incident as “an incredibly cruel act,” emphasizing that the death was deliberate and caused by Winter’s actions.
He stated, “This poor duck died after being stood on.
It was clearly an intentional and incredibly cruel act.
Winter showed no regard whatsoever for this duck and was seen standing on her in a deliberate way — crushing the poor bird to death.” Following her arrest, Winter admitted to two counts of animal cruelty.
She was subsequently sentenced to pay £300 in costs and received a ban from owning animals for five years, a restriction that expired in 2018.
The case drew widespread condemnation from animal welfare organizations and residents of Littlehampton, highlighting the importance of accountability in cases of animal abuse.
