WARMINSTER MAN GLYN BALLARD SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN WINCHESTER

In a significant case that has spanned over decades, a man from Warminster, identified as Glyn Ricardo Ballard, has been handed a substantial prison sentence of 12 years for a series of serious child sex offences. The conviction was secured following a detailed trial held at Winchester Crown Court, where the court heard evidence of disturbing crimes committed by Ballard over a period of more than two decades.

Glyn Ballard, aged 50 and residing on High Street in Warminster, was found guilty of one count of rape and eleven counts of indecent assault or sexual activity involving children. These offences were committed at various times between 1981 and 2005, highlighting a long history of abusive behavior that spanned his youth into adulthood.

The presiding judge, Judge Boney, delivered the sentence on a Monday, emphasizing the severity of the crimes and the danger posed by the offender. He described Ballard as “a skillful liar and knew no boundaries,” underscoring the manipulative nature of his actions. The judge further stated that there was “no doubt that he posed a risk to young girls,” which justified the lengthy imprisonment.

The case was the culmination of a lengthy and challenging investigation, reflecting the complexities often involved in uncovering historical abuse cases. Detective Constable Dave Topp, involved in the investigation, expressed satisfaction with the outcome. He stated, “We are satisfied with the result and we hope it will encourage other victims to come forward regardless of when offences were committed against them.”
