DENIZ DEMIRDAĞ FROM WARMINSTER SHOCKS COMMUNITY WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the town of Warminster, a young man named Deniz Demirdag was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl as she was on her way to catch her school bus. The assault took place outside Warminster Park on July 20, and the repercussions of this event have led to significant legal and social consequences.

According to court proceedings held at Chippenham Magistrates' Court on a recent Tuesday, Demirdag, aged 20, was working part-time at the Speedy Chef restaurant located on Weymouth Street in Warminster at the time of the incident. The court heard that Demirdag followed the young girl as she walked through the park, and during this pursuit, he touched her chest inappropriately. Despite her efforts to escape, the girl struggled and managed to break free from his grasp, but the trauma of the encounter left her extremely distressed.

Later that same morning, police officers located Demirdag sitting on a bench within Warminster Park. Confronted with the evidence, he did not deny his involvement and immediately admitted to the assault. His arrest and subsequent confession marked a pivotal moment in the case, bringing the incident to a close.

During the court hearing, the prosecution, led by Marion Langford, emphasized the severity of the offense and the impact it had on the young victim. The defense, represented by Bill White, acknowledged the unacceptable nature of the crime but highlighted that Demirdag was unsure of his motives, stating, “The offence is clearly unacceptable, quite why he did it he doesn’t know. The girl herself is always going to remember this.”

Demirdag, who is married and has a nine-month-old child, resides with his wife’s family in Greyfriars Close, Salisbury. The court sentenced him to a six-month community rehabilitation order, mandated that he register as a sex offender for five years, and ordered him to pay costs amounting to £70.

Following the court proceedings, Lorraine Ascioglu, co-owner of Speedy Chef, expressed her firm stance on the matter. She stated, “He got the sack as soon as this came out, and we’ve not had any trouble with any other staff. We don’t stand for anything like that, and we’ve got a good reputation in the town.” The incident has undoubtedly cast a shadow over the local community, prompting discussions about safety and accountability in Warminster.
