IRVINE SEX OFFENDER DODGES JAIL AFTER SEXUAL COMMENTS TO GIRL
An Irvine sex offender convicted of making inappropriate sexual comments to a vulnerable young girl has been sentenced to community service.George McLelland, aged 49, was found guilty of sexual offences towards the young victim at trial last month, though he was cleared of an allegation of indecently touching her.
The court records state he repeatedly made comments of a sexual nature to the girl at an address in Stevenston on November 29, 2019.
McLelland, who resides on Lomond Place, was proven to have made indecent verbal communications to the 15-year-old girl for sexual gratification, causing her humiliation and distress.
The court also heard that he was acquitted of a separate charge claiming he unzipped the girl’s top and touched her leg.
When sentenced, he received a community payback order for a year, including 150 hours of unpaid work, and was ordered to sign the sexual offenders register for one year.
