GARY SMITH JAILED FOR 12 YEARS IN LEICESTER FOR TWICE RAPING 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL

He stated, “You had sent her sexually highly explicit messages and sums of money.
You knew of her unhappy background.
You must have known she would be a fragile child who would respond to affection.” The judge also pointed out that Smith had abused his position of trust on two separate occasions by engaging in sexual intercourse with the girl before she turned 13.
The court was informed that Smith had a long history of criminal behavior, with convictions totaling 32 previous offences related to violence and dishonesty.
His criminal record includes a pattern of misconduct that underscores the danger he poses to society.
In addition to his prison sentence, Smith was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, which will require ongoing monitoring after his release.
