DECLAN MOORE FROM SALFORD JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AFTER PAEDOPHILE HUNT

In a significant case that highlights ongoing concerns about child safety and the dangers posed by convicted sex offenders, Declan John Moore, aged 22 and residing in Salford, has been sentenced to prison after being caught in a sting operation conducted by a dedicated paedophile hunting team.

Moore, who was already on the sex offenders register due to a previous conviction involving an underage girl in 2013, appeared before Manchester Crown Court to face new charges. He pleaded guilty to attempting, arranging, and facilitating a child sexual offence, actions that have once again brought his dangerous behavior into the spotlight.

The court was informed that Moore’s criminal history includes a disturbing incident where he engaged in sexual intercourse with a minor girl after intoxicating her with vodka. This prior conviction underscores the ongoing threat he poses to the community, especially to vulnerable children.

According to court records, between April and May of the current year, Moore engaged in online communications with what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. Over the course of several weeks, he sent her numerous sexually explicit messages, demonstrating a clear pattern of predatory behavior. The situation escalated when Moore arranged to meet the girl in person on May 26, 2018, with the apparent intent of engaging in sexual activity.

However, just as the meeting was about to occur, Moore fled the scene, attempting to evade capture. The paedophile hunting team, which had been monitoring his online activity, tracked him down and identified his whereabouts. They alerted the police, who responded promptly and arrested Moore at his hiding place.

Given the serious nature of his actions and the potential risk to children, Moore was considered a significant danger. As a result, he was remanded in custody until his sentencing hearing.

On June 25, 2018, Moore appeared before the court for sentencing. The judge sentenced him to 20 months in prison, reflecting the gravity of his offences. Additionally, a seven-year sexual harm prevention order was imposed, restricting his activities and interactions to protect the public. Moore was also informed that he must register as a sex offender for life, a requirement that underscores the ongoing concern about his potential to reoffend and the importance of community safety.
