DEAN ANGEAR SENTENCED TO 11 YEARS FOR RAPE IN PLYMOUTH AND CORNWALL
A man identified as Dean Angear has been handed down an 11-year prison sentence after being found guilty of raping a young girl in Cornwall, an incident that occurred nearly twenty years ago.The disturbing case was brought to justice following a detailed three-day trial, during which the jury deliberated and ultimately convicted Angear of the serious charges.
According to court proceedings, Angear, aged 41 at the time of sentencing, admitted to the sexual assault and rape of the victim, who was approximately 14 or 15 years old at the time of the assault in the mid-1990s.
The court was informed that the assault took place in Cornwall, with the victim’s father present and watching during the incident, adding a layer of emotional trauma and complexity to the case.
The victim, now an adult, played a crucial role in the case by secretly recording her father confessing to the crimes.
This recording served as vital evidence in securing the conviction.
It was also revealed that at the time of the assault, the victim was under the influence of drugs, which she claimed affected her state of mind during the incident.
Judge Paul Darlow emphasized the gravity of the offense, highlighting the exploitation and vulnerability of the young girl.
He pointed out the profound impact such crimes have on victims and underscored the importance of holding offenders accountable, regardless of the passage of time.
The sentencing reflects the seriousness with which the court views such violations of trust and personal safety, especially when committed against minors in vulnerable circumstances.
Dean Angear’s case has garnered significant attention due to the long delay between the crime and the conviction, as well as the disturbing nature of the offense.
The court’s decision aims to serve justice for the victim and reinforce the message that such crimes will not be tolerated, regardless of how much time has passed since they occurred.
