DAVID WOMERSLEY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN GOOLE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Goole, David Michael Womersley, aged 43, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for heinous sexual offenses committed against a six-year-old girl. The crimes took place over a span of several months, specifically between April and November of the previous year, during which Womersley engaged in a series of sexual acts with the young victim.

Womersley appeared before Hull Crown Court to face justice, where he admitted to six counts of sexual activity involving a child under the age of 13. These counts included serious charges of rape and sexual assault, highlighting the severity of his actions. The court's proceedings revealed the extent of Womersley's grooming process, which lasted for approximately seven months, during which he manipulated and exploited the innocence of the young girl.

The victim's mother, who has chosen to remain anonymous for legal reasons, expressed her profound anguish and heartbreak following the sentencing. She stated, “I’m devastated. My child isn’t the same, I’m not the same. There are aspects of my little girl that have been taken away. I worry she is going to realize what happened to her as she grows up and it is going to affect her. Judge Michael Mettyear, the Honorary Recorder of Hull and the East Riding, described Womersley's conduct as “despicable” during the sentencing. The court not only imposed a 10-year prison term but also mandated that Womersley be registered as a sex offender. Furthermore, he is now legally prohibited from having any care or custody of children under 16 and is barred from working in any capacity that involves contact with minors.
