June 2019 Paedophile caught in the act after sending vile videos to undercover police officer A paedophile was caught after he sent a vile video of a child being sexually attacked to an undercover police officer. Stephen Sweeting, 67, had used a computer he bought with his pension pot to speak to young teenagers in a sexual nature. Sweeting, who was living as a recluse at the time of the offence, had been snared by an undercover police officer who baited Sweeting as a 13-year-old girl called Lilly. Hull Crown Court heard the pervert had messaged ‘Lilly’ sexually explicit questions before sending a sickening child sex abuse video with the caption ‘do you like dirty vids?’ Prosecutor Nigel Clive told the court: “Police officers then raided the defendant’s property in Goole and took items, including his computer. “They found 12 videos in total and the evidence of the messages on the chat to the officer.” The court was told Sweeting was twice sent to Borstal training in order to reform after he committed child sex offences in the 1970s. Between 1971 and 1979, he also received two suspended sentences and a 10-month prison sentence for committing sexual activity with a child. However, the court heard he had kept out of trouble for over 40 years – apart a shop lifting offence in the 1980s. This was until he had discovered the internet after purchasing a computer around three years ago. Sweeting, of Dempster Avenue, Old Goole, admitted three charges of possessing indecent images and sharing indecent videos of children with an underage child. Judge Simon Jack handed him a two year sentence, suspended for two years. He told him: “You have to stay out of trouble for the next two years, or you will serve this sentence in prison.” Sweeting will have to undergo 31 rehabilitation sessions and also sign on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
