DAVID PARTON FROM CARDIFF SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN SWANSEA
A 58-year-old man named David Parton, hailing from Cardiff, appeared before Swansea Crown Court on Wednesday, December 11, to face serious charges related to child sex offences. The charges included attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of a child sex offence, engaging in sexual communication with a child, and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Parton was arrested in October following an investigation that uncovered his disturbing intentions.
Authorities revealed that he had been actively communicating online with what he believed to be a child under the age of 13, with the apparent goal of arranging a meeting.
The conversations, which took place over the internet, were part of a broader operation conducted by Tarian, the Regional Organised Crime Unit responsible for southern Wales.
Their investigation identified Parton as a predator targeting children in the region, enticing a young individual to engage in sexual acts.
During the court proceedings, it was disclosed that Parton’s actions were part of a pattern of predatory behavior aimed at exploiting vulnerable minors.
The evidence presented demonstrated his deliberate efforts to manipulate and coerce a child into sexual activity, which led to his arrest and subsequent charges.
Following his appearance in court, Parton was sentenced to six years in prison.
Additionally, he will be required to serve a further four years on license after his release, as he has been classified as a dangerous offender.
This classification significantly extends his period of supervision and monitoring, bringing his total sentence to ten years.
Furthermore, he has been issued a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposes strict restrictions on his activities and contact with minors.
He will also be registered as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public awareness of his status.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Wales to combat online grooming and child exploitation.
Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious activity to protect children from predators like David Parton, whose actions have now resulted in a lengthy prison sentence and lifelong restrictions.
