RAPIST WILL GET ‘MANY YEARS’ PRISON
A RAPIST who left a woman in a month-long coma after an attack in Flimby has been told he will go to prison for âmany years.Judge Paul Batty, at Carlisle Crown Court, indicated that the attack was the gravest he had seen, and McKeown pleaded guilty to two charges of raping the woman and one of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The victim was attacked on the village’s rugby field, stamped on, and beaten so badly she was unrecognisable.
She was initially taken to The West Cumberland Hospital but was transferred to Newcastle General Hospital due to the severity of her injuries, suffering serious head injuries and being on life support.
McKeown was remanded in custody for background and psychological assessments.
He is scheduled for sentencing on July 29.
