Daniel Cox

Stourport Sexual Abuser

August 2008 Man downloaded child porn A STOURPORT prisoner serving time for attempted robbery confessed to a psychologist that he had downloaded child porn at home. Police went to the property and found 17 vile images on a computer, Worcester Crown Court heard. Daniel Cox, 20, of Windermere Way, Stourport, pleaded guilty to eight counts of downloading indecent photographs of children and possession of nine images. Judge Andrew Geddes said although Cox had also admitted sexual fantasies about children, he did not consider him a danger. He could not be satisfied that fantasies would be translated into reality. He made a three-year community order with a condition that Cox attends a sex offenders’ treatment programme. The order will start when the defendant, who is serving a three-year sentence for three attempted robberies at knifepoint, is released on September 30. Prosecutor Kerry Moreton said the children pictured were as young as five and included four moving images. Cox told the forensic psychologist he had spent time lurking by a middle school and had fantasies about kidnap, weapons and committing sex acts in the street. She said some fantasies focussed on particular people and there were fears that Cox would offend against a child but Miss Moreton’s request for a sexual offences’ prevention order was turned down by the judge. Instead, the judge ordered Cox to have no contact with children under 18 and to sign the sex offenders’ register for five years. He added: “These were horrible and revolting images. He liked looking at that material. Many people do it in isolation and don’t carry their fanstasies into practice.” Simon Parry, defending, said there was a real need to get at the root cause of Cox’s offending behaviour. He had spent the last 13 months locked up.
