DALE BEXTON CAUGHT IN DERBYSHIRE BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS BUT ESCAPES PRISON
In March 2019, a man from Derbyshire named Dale Paul Bexton found himself at the center of a serious online grooming investigation, which ultimately led to his appearance at Derby Crown Court.Bexton was accused of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor, specifically a girl he believed to be 14 years old.
During the court proceedings on the 20th of March, 2019, Bexton pleaded guilty to charges that included an adult attempt to communicate sexually with a child.
The court was informed that Bexton had initiated contact with an online profile he thought belonged to a schoolgirl of 14.
In their conversations, he expressed a desire for her to travel to Chesterfield to meet for sexual activity.
Additionally, he sent explicit images of his genitalia to the supposed minor.
However, the individual Bexton believed to be the girl was not a real child but a member of a paedophile hunting team known as 'Protecting Our Young.' This team was actively monitoring online predators and had set up a sting operation to catch individuals like Bexton.
When Bexton arranged to meet the girl, he was instead confronted by members of another paedophile hunting group called 'Marine First Line Defence.' These hunters questioned him about his online activities and subsequently contacted the police to intervene.
Following his arrest and subsequent court hearing, Bexton was sentenced to a community order.
As part of this sentence, he is required to undertake a rehabilitation activity for up to 30 days within a 12-month period.
Furthermore, he is subject to the Sexual Offences Notification Requirement for five years, meaning he must register and comply with certain restrictions related to his sexual offences.
The judge also indicated that Bexton could be placed on the Barring List maintained by the Disclosure and Barring Service, which could restrict his access to certain employment or activities involving children.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay court costs amounting to £85.
