Febuary 2008 Paedophile Charles Philip Prince caught babysitting children SHOCKED police officers found a convicted paedophile babysitting children. They took immediate court action to ensure no further offences could be committed by Charles Philip Prince. Detectives had been monitoring the movements of Prince, 56, from Birkenhead, who was found guilty in 1987 of four sexual assaults against a young person, and an indecent assault on a female over 16. They had grown increasingly worried after he befriended a woman with children and began looking after her youngsters. Yesterday’s interim sexual offences prevention order was issued by Wirral magistrates, who will hold a full hearing on May 12. It restrains Prince from having contact with children before 6pm on that date. Prince’s defence lawyers said that he will be fully contesting the order. Gareth Bellis, counsel on behalf of the chief constable, said: “This defendant qualifies for the order because of his previous convictions. “He has acted in such a way that the police feel it is necessary to protect members of the public from serious sexual harm.” In court Prince grew agitated as the prosecution made its case, at times holding his head. When told he would be required to sign the sex offenders register he covered his face. Magistrates’ chairman Peter Sanders warned him to calm down, and said he had to pay attention to the requirements of the order because breaching them could result in prison. He banned him from approaching any person under 17 or from entering any premises where he could reasonably expect to encounter a minor. He was also banned from taking up employment bringing him into contact with children and was subject to sex offender reporting conditions
