DUNDEE POLICE OFFICER CAMERON FRASER SENTENCED FOR INDECENT COMMUNICATIONS WITH CHILD
In a significant development within the Tayside region, a serving police officer from Dundee has been formally sentenced for engaging in indecent communications with a minor. Cameron Fraser, aged 28, faced the court on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, where he received a six-month community payback order as part of his sentence.Prior to this sentencing, Fraser had entered a guilty plea at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. The court proceedings marked the culmination of an investigation into his online conduct, which was deemed highly inappropriate and criminal in nature.
Following the conclusion of the criminal case, Police Scotland’s Professional Standards Department announced that it would now initiate disciplinary procedures related to gross misconduct. This step underscores the police force’s commitment to maintaining integrity and high standards among its officers.
Chief Superintendent Helen Harrison, representing the Professional Standards Department, issued a statement condemning Fraser’s actions. She described his offending as “appalling” and emphasized that Fraser believed his online misconduct would remain undetected. However, she reaffirmed that no one is beyond scrutiny, and thanks to diligent investigation, Fraser will now face the appropriate consequences.
Harrison further stressed the importance of upholding the values and standards of Police Scotland. She stated, “It is right policing is held to high standards and we will always support officers and staff acting with our values and standards at heart. Those who reject what we stand for do not belong in Police Scotland.” The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to ensure accountability within the force, especially when allegations involve misconduct by officers entrusted with public safety.
