BRIAN FELLOWS CAUGHT IN LEIGH PAEDOPHILE HUNTING SCAM AND ESCAPES JAIL
In August 2021, a man from Leigh who believed he was communicating with underage girls online was ultimately caught in a sting operation conducted by dedicated paedophile hunters. The individual, identified as Brian Fellows, residing on York Street in Leigh, appeared before a judge in Bolton to face serious charges related to his attempts to engage in sexual conversations with minors.
According to court proceedings, Fellows admitted to attempting to contact two girls under the age of 16 with the intent of obtaining sexual gratification.
The court was informed that Fellows had invited these supposed underage girls to his home, a move that raised significant concern.
However, when Fellows answered the door, he was confronted by members of the paedophile hunting group who had been monitoring his online activity.
These vigilant individuals had gathered evidence of his intentions and handed this information over to the police for further investigation.
Despite the gravity of his actions, Fellows was not sentenced to immediate imprisonment.
Instead, he received a sentence of 10 months in jail, which was suspended for two years.
This means he will not serve time in prison unless he commits another offence within that period.
Additionally, Fellows was ordered to participate in a sex offenders’ rehabilitation program and complete 40 days of therapeutic activities aimed at preventing future offending.
He is also subject to a sexual harm prevention order, restricting his activities and contact with minors, and is required to register as a sex offender for the next decade.
This comprehensive set of measures underscores the seriousness with which the justice system views offences involving the exploitation of minors, even when the offender is spared immediate incarceration.
