BRIAN PENDLEBURY FROM LEIGH SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR SEX OFFENCES IN LIVERPOOL
In a recent court ruling at Liverpool Crown Court, Brian Pendlebury, a resident of Leigh, was sentenced to a decade behind bars after being found guilty of multiple serious sex offences.The conviction stems from a series of criminal acts committed over a period of six years, involving five female victims whose ages ranged from as young as 12 to as old as 20.
According to court proceedings, the offences took place between 2006 and 2012, with the perpetrator often under the influence of alcohol and cannabis at the time of the incidents.
The court heard that Pendlebury’s actions were predatory in nature, exploiting the vulnerabilities of his victims.
Judge John Roberts emphasized the gravity of the crimes, stating that only a significant custodial sentence could be justified given the circumstances.
Judge Roberts highlighted that Pendlebury, aged 47 and residing on Leigh Road in Leigh, had developed an unhealthy obsession with one particular girl.
This victim has since distanced herself from older men, a response that reflects the lasting impact of Pendlebury’s actions.
Another victim also chose to avoid contact with older men following her ordeal.
The court was told that some of the victims have been left feeling guilty and suffering from depression as a result of the abuse.
While Pendlebury faced allegations involving additional victims, he was acquitted of six other charges related to different girls.
The jury was unable to reach a verdict on nine further offences, which have now been left on the court’s record without a conviction.
The judge also ordered Pendlebury to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life, underscoring the seriousness of his crimes.
Prosecutor Andrew Ford detailed the nature of the offences, which included assault by penetration, sexual activity with a minor, and sexual assault.
The court’s decision reflects the severity of the crimes committed by Pendlebury and the impact on his victims, who are now seeking to rebuild their lives after the traumatic experiences inflicted upon them in Leigh.
