Paul Watt

Leigh Penicuik Sexual Abuser

May 2014 Former nurse put on sex offenders register A former psychiatric nurse has been put on the sex offenders register after admitting abusing a girl more than 30 years ago in Midlothian. Paul Watt, 48, said he played “doctors and nurses” with a girl when he was a teenager on two occasions between 1979 and 1982 at a house in Penicuik. Watt, now of Leigh, near Wigan, in Lancashire, carried out sex acts on the child when she was aged 12 and younger. The judge deferred sentence until next month for a background report. At the High Court in Edinburgh, advocate depute Adrian Cottam said the victim did not initially tell anyone what had happened and only revealed in detail what Watt had done in 2011, when she told her present partner. The victim went to Leith police station that year and reported the offences. Mr Cottam said: “The accused was interviewed and stated he used to play doctors and nurses with her.” “He realised it was wrong,” said the prosecutor. Defence counsel Michael Anderson said: “He has co-operated fully with this whole procedure.”
