PERRY HOCKLEY FROM LEIGH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ACTS WITH TEENAGE BOYS IN BASILDON

In a case that has drawn significant attention and posed difficult questions about consent and identity, Perry Hockley, an 18-year-old resident of Norfolk Avenue in Leigh, was involved in a controversial incident involving two teenage boys. The incident took place in Southend, and the case was heard at Basildon Crown Court, where Judge Philip Clegg presided over the proceedings.

According to court reports, Hockley engaged in oral sex with two boys, both aged 14, after they met through a mutual acquaintance. The details of the case revealed that one of the boys later boasted to his friends at school about his encounter with Hockley in an alleyway in Southend, which added to the public and legal scrutiny of the case.

The court noted that Hockley had been living as a woman, wearing women's clothing and presenting as female for most of his life. Furthermore, the court accepted that Hockley believed the boys were 16 years old, which influenced the sentencing considerations. The judge expressed concern that sending Hockley to a male prison would be extremely difficult for him to endure, given his gender identity and the circumstances of the case.

Hockley pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child, covering the period from November 24, 2005, to March 8 of the following year. As part of his sentence, he was ordered to serve ten months in a young offenders' institution, suspended for two years. Additionally, he was mandated to complete 100 hours of community service and to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
