ANTHONY WALLS FROM AYLESBURY AND COWDENBEATH CONVICTED OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN EDINBURGH AND GLASGOW

In a disturbing case that has shocked communities across Fife and beyond, Anthony Walls, a man now residing in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, has been found guilty of repeatedly sexually abusing two young boys during the 1980s in Cowdenbeath. The trial, held at the High Court in Edinburgh, revealed a pattern of heinous misconduct spanning over a decade, involving vulnerable children at various locations within the Fife area.

Walls, aged 53 at the time of the trial, was accused of targeting one boy, who was just 11 years old, at a residence in Cowdenbeath between July 1980 and August 1981. The court heard how Walls engaged in repeated acts of sexual assault during this period, causing lasting trauma to the young victim. The second victim, who was only six years old when Walls began abusing him, was subjected to ongoing abuse at multiple sites across Fife from May 1980 through August 1990. Due to legal restrictions, the identities of both victims remain protected, and they cannot be named publicly.

During the three-day trial, evidence was presented that led to Walls being convicted on several charges, including sexual assault and lewd and libidinous conduct. The jury, after deliberating for only two hours, returned unanimous guilty verdicts on all counts. The court proceedings highlighted the severity and duration of Walls' offending, which spanned nearly a decade and involved multiple locations and victims.

Following the verdict, Judge Lord Boyd decided to defer sentencing to allow for the preparation of reports concerning Walls' character and background. Walls, who has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register, is scheduled to be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on April 12, 2017. The case has brought to light the importance of vigilance and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect children from predators, regardless of the time elapsed or the offender’s current residence.
