July 2011 Judge tells Facebook sex groomer he’s a ‘marked man’ A Wirral man who admitted on Facebook that he was probably a paedophile had his computer seized by police, a court heard. When the computer was examined it was found that not only had Andrew Duncan downloaded indecent images of children, he had also tried to meet up with a 14-year-old girl for sex. Judge David Fletcher warned 40-year-old Duncan, who used to work with a teenage theatre group, that he is now a marked man as police are aware of his internet activities and would “find out” if he tried anything similar again. Duncan was arrested after a woman with whom he had “inappropriate exchanges” on Facebook contacted police, said Michael Stephenson. He told her he liked looking at pictures of little girls and agreed he was probably a paedophile. Police raided his home in July 2009 and seized his computer. Experts found a total of 247 indecent images of children, all in the lowest category, involving posing. They also discovered that he had used Facebook to contact a mother and her 14-year-old daughter in the London area. He asked for inappropriate images of the child to be sent to him. He also sent them emails saying he would come down to London to have sex with the mother with the daughter watching and also to have sex with the daughter. Duncan actually went to London three times to meet them but they did not turn up, said Mr Stephenson. When interviewed Duncan admitted that he had received images of the girl and had looked at them. Duncan, of Comely Bank Road, Wallasey, pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court to a sexual grooming offence and 15 of making indecent images. Judge David Fletcher imposed a three-year community order involving supervision and attendance on the stringent Northumbria Sex Offenders programme. He also ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register for five years. His conviction will be notified to the Independent Safeguarding Authority which will mean he will no longer be able to work with the youth theatre group.
