ALBERT LAMB'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN AYLESBURY: RAPE AND TERROR IN HOMES
In a chilling series of events that unfolded over a span of just 12 hours, Albert Lamb, a 44-year-old man with no fixed address, committed a series of brutal crimes in Aylesbury that have left the community shaken and the victims traumatized. Lamb was sentenced to life imprisonment on a Monday at Aylesbury Crown Court after a harrowing case that revealed the extent of his violent and predatory behavior.According to court proceedings, Lamb's first assault occurred on the evening of February 12, 2023. He approached the residence of a woman in Aylesbury, knocking on her front door. When there was no response, he circumvented the house and climbed over the back fence, demanding entry. The woman, aware of the danger, held up her phone threatening to call the police. Despite her resistance, Lamb managed to force his way inside through a kitchen window and quickly seized her phone, depriving her of communication with authorities.
What followed was a brutal attack. Lamb assaulted the woman with a metal bar, striking her multiple times. She later recounted that her vision blurred and she felt blood everywhere after the assault. Lamb then entered the bathroom where she was bleeding from her head, and, in a horrifying act, proceeded to rape her while she was vulnerable and injured. The woman, in a state of shock and pain, heard her daughter calling for her downstairs, which caused Lamb to cease his attack and flee the scene. Before escaping, he threatened her, warning that he would return to 'finish her off' if she reported the incident to the police.
Neighbours had already alerted authorities, and Lamb's escape was thwarted when police arrived. Lamb managed to climb out of the bathroom window, leaving the woman injured and terrified. The woman’s injuries included head lacerations and internal bleeding, and she described her emotional trauma as profound, noting her inability to feel safe in her own home afterward. She expressed her distress, saying, “I hate my home. I used to love it so much. Now it does not feel like mine anymore. I use a lot of air freshener in my house because I keep thinking I can smell my own blood.”
The very next day, Lamb's reign of terror continued less than two miles away. At around 11 a.m., he targeted a different household, where a young girl and her brother were alone, their mother having left for an appointment. Lamb approached the house, ringing the doorbell, and when the girl opened the door, he engaged her in conversation about a mattress left on their driveway. When she declined his offer to move it and refused to give him her contact details, Lamb suddenly burst into the house, closing the door behind him. He then threatened her with violence, saying, “Don’t scream. I have killed before and I will kill you.”
He took the girl into her mother’s bedroom and subjected her to a horrifying rape. During the assault, he asked her age, and when she responded, he moaned and continued, describing the experience as “really, really, really painful.” The girl tried to close her eyes, but Lamb forced her to look at him, repeatedly warning her, “If you scream, I will kill you.” He also compelled her to say she “liked it” before ejaculating. Despite the terror, the girl managed to keep her composure and, with presence of mind, put her trousers back on to preserve evidence.
After the assault, Lamb searched the house for money and discovered the younger brother hiding in his bedroom, having overheard the events. The children, in a state of shock, managed to open a window and alert police officers, who arrived promptly. Lamb was later apprehended on the streets of Aylesbury later that day.
He was formally charged the following day with multiple serious offenses, including two counts of assault by penetration, two counts of false imprisonment, assault causing actual bodily harm, burglary of a dwelling, and making threats to kill. Lamb admitted to all charges on March 8. The victims suffered severe physical injuries; the teenage girl endured internal bleeding from the rape, while the woman from the first incident sustained head lacerations. Both victims also reported significant psychological trauma, with the woman describing her inability to feel comfortable in her own home and her efforts to mask the bloodstains with redecoration and air fresheners. The teenage girl revealed she had lost 6 kilograms and parts of her hair due to stress and anguish.
During sentencing, Judge Catherine Tulk addressed Lamb directly, emphasizing the gravity of his actions. She noted that Lamb’s deliberate conduct had shattered the lives of the victims and their families, turning their homes into sites of horror. The judge expressed concern about Lamb’s risk to the public, especially women and children, highlighting the potential for serious harm. Lamb was ordered to serve a minimum of 12 years before being eligible for parole, reflecting the court’s recognition of the severity of his crimes and the lasting impact on the victims.
