ALAN HAYBURN CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE MATERIALS IN DUNDEE
A 57-year-old man named Alan Hayburn has been found to be in possession of a substantial collection of child abuse images spanning over a period of more than a decade, with authorities uncovering disturbing evidence of his involvement in such illicit activities. The investigation revealed that Hayburn had been regularly engaged in acquiring and storing these indecent materials, which included photographs of children as young as six years old.It was during a family incident that the disturbing details came to light. A 28-year-old female relative of Hayburn discovered the incriminating content after she was given a storage card by him for a mobile phone. Upon examining the files, she noticed a folder labeled 'cuties' that contained explicit images of young females, which prompted her to confront Hayburn. She visited his residence in Dundee and observed five SD cards, which she suspected belonged to the missing or stolen collection. Her suspicions were confirmed when she found the files and recognized the disturbing nature of the content.
When questioned, Hayburn attempted to dismiss the allegations, claiming that 'it was a long time ago.' His response did little to quell the concern, and the family member was left feeling disgusted by his actions. She decided to report the matter to the police, handing over the mobile phone and SD card for further investigation. The authorities acted swiftly, leading to Hayburn's arrest.
Following his detention, Hayburn, who was identified as a first-time offender, admitted to possessing indecent images, including photographs of children as young as six. The police confirmed that the offenses took place between January 4, 2009, and December 14, 2023. As a result of the investigation, the court ordered that Hayburn be placed on the sex offenders' register. His sentencing has been postponed until June, pending the completion of a social work report that will inform the court's final decision.
