ADAM MIDDLETON FROM YEOVIL WARNED BY JUDGE OVER SEXUAL MISCONDUCT INVOLVING 15-YEAR-OLD BOY

In December 2010, a serious incident involving a young man from Yeovil came to light, leading to legal action and a stern warning from the judiciary. Adam Middleton, aged 20, was involved in an incident that raised significant concerns about his conduct towards minors, specifically a 15-year-old boy.

The case was brought before Taunton Crown Court, where Middleton pleaded guilty to charges of attempted sexual activity with a minor. The events in question occurred on April 12, during an evening when Middleton was spending time with the teenage boy and his girlfriend. According to court reports, the trio ended up in Middleton’s bedsit, with the girl sleeping in one area and Middleton sharing a bed with the boy, both fully clothed at the time.

During this encounter, Middleton, who was 19 at the time, made unwelcome sexual advances towards the boy. The teenager, who was clear about his disinterest, told Middleton he had a girlfriend and that nothing was going to happen. Despite this, Middleton allegedly pulled down the boy’s trousers and attempted to engage in sexual activity, as detailed by prosecutor Rebecca Bradberry.

Following Middleton’s guilty plea, Judge Graham Hume Jones sentenced him to a community order with supervision for a period of two years. The judge emphasized that Middleton had acknowledged his homosexuality but warned that if he continued to pursue underage boys, he risked escalating into more serious trouble. The judge also noted that, in this particular case, the harm caused was not extensive, allowing for a relatively lenient sentence.

Furthermore, Middleton was ordered to register as a sex offender for five years, a measure intended to monitor and prevent future misconduct. The court’s decision underscores the seriousness with which such offenses are treated and the importance of safeguarding minors from exploitation and abuse.
