ADAM LEDDRA'S SHOCKING CRIME IN WASHINGTON: TEEN SEX OFFENDER JAIL SENTENCE

In June 2014, a young aspiring musician from Washington was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of engaging in sexual activities with under-age girls. Adam Leddra, who was 20 years old at the time and has since turned 21, had developed a following among young fans due to his involvement in a local music scene. However, his reputation was marred by serious allegations and convictions related to his interactions with minors.

According to court reports, Leddra had invited two 15-year-old girls back to his residence on separate occasions, where he engaged in sexual acts with them. These incidents occurred between November of the previous year and January of the current year. The court heard that Leddra was aware of the girls' ages, yet he proceeded with the encounters, which led to his conviction on two counts of sexual activity with a minor.

Prior to these offences, Leddra was already on the sex offenders’ register. He had previously been cautioned after being caught with an indecent image of a 13-year-old girl on his mobile phone. Despite this prior warning, he continued to violate the restrictions placed upon him, notably ignoring advice to avoid contact with girls under 16.

During the sentencing at Newcastle Crown Court, Judge Robert Adams condemned Leddra’s actions. He stated, “You were advised by those involved with the register to avoid contact with girls under 16, a piece of advice you blatantly ignored. It appears you met these girls as a result of a social circle centred around music, following a particular band. The families of both girls feel their young daughters were taken advantage of by you.”

The court was informed that neither of the victims had much prior sexual experience, which added to the gravity of the offences. Prosecutor Gavin Doig emphasized that Leddra was aware of the girls’ ages and had warned one of them to keep quiet about their interactions, implying threats of imprisonment if she disclosed the truth.

In his defense, Amanda Rippon argued that Leddra was motivated by the desire for social recognition and the admiration he received from his band’s followers. She pointed out that despite having an older girlfriend, Leddra enjoyed the attention from younger fans, which she described as “kudos.” Rippon emphasized that the girls involved were too young to legally consent, but she maintained that Leddra did not force them into any activity.

As part of his sentence, Leddra is required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years. Additionally, he must adhere to a sexual offences prevention order for five years, which imposes restrictions on his conduct to prevent further offences. The case highlights the serious consequences of violating legal protections for minors and underscores the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young individuals from exploitation.
