LEWIS BRUCE CAUGHT IN WASHINGTON TRYING TO MEET 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL FOR SEX
In a disturbing incident that unfolded in Washington, a 22-year-old man named Lewis Bruce was apprehended by paedophile hunters as he attempted to meet a young girl for sexual activity.The incident was captured on video and revealed the disturbing nature of his intentions.
Bruce had been communicating with what he believed was a 13-year-old girl, but in reality, he was speaking to members of the group Dark Justice, who posed as the minor online.
During their exchanges, Bruce sent highly inappropriate and explicit messages, including statements such as, ‘If you want my mouth 2 be your human toilet’ and ‘Can I smell and lick your ass out’.
These messages clearly indicated his intent to engage in sexual acts with a minor, which raised serious concerns about his intentions and mental state.
Following the confrontation, Bruce was taken into custody and subsequently detained indefinitely in a secure hospital.
The court proceedings revealed the details of his messages and plans, emphasizing the gravity of his actions.
During the hearing, Bruce admitted that he was aware his conduct could lead to legal trouble, especially as he was planning to meet the girl in Newcastle City Centre.
He also disclosed that he had condoms with him, indicating his readiness to engage in sexual activity.
Judge Tim Gittins presided over the case and was informed that Bruce is autistic.
Recognizing the seriousness of the case, the judge ordered an indefinite hospital stay for Bruce, citing his mental health condition as a key factor.
The judge expressed concern over the sexual nature of Bruce’s communications, noting that he quickly shifted the conversation to sexual topics, including references to disturbing sexual behaviors he wished to perform on the girl.
Despite knowing the girl’s age and understanding that his actions were wrong, Bruce continued to make plans to meet her, which the court deemed highly serious.
Fortunately, no actual girl was at risk during the incident, but the potential danger was significant enough to warrant strict legal measures.
Judge Gittins explained that, under normal circumstances, Bruce might have faced several years in prison.
However, due to his mental health issues, a hospital order was deemed the most appropriate course of action to both treat him and protect the public.
The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order on Bruce, requiring him to adhere to specific restrictions and to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Defense lawyer Jamie Adams highlighted that Bruce is a vulnerable adult whose home has been targeted as a consequence of his offending.
He assured the court that Bruce would receive ongoing treatment in hospital to address his mental health conditions and to mitigate the risk he poses to society, especially to young females.
The case underscores the importance of mental health considerations in cases involving sexual offenses and the ongoing efforts to protect minors from predatory behavior.
