ACASIA WELBURN SENTENCED IN NORTH YORKSHIRE FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST TEENAGER

In a case that has shocked the community of North Yorkshire, Acasia Welburn, a 27-year-old woman with no fixed address, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after admitting to multiple sexual offences involving a teenage boy. The sentencing took place at York Crown Court on Friday, bringing a close to a disturbing case that highlights the dangers faced by vulnerable youths.

Welburn, who was employed in a care role at a local school in North Yorkshire, engaged in inappropriate and illegal conduct with a boy under the age of 16. The victim, who is autistic, demonstrated remarkable bravery by coming forward and speaking out about the abuse, which was instrumental in bringing the case to justice. North Yorkshire Police's Detective Constable Alison Morris expressed her admiration for the victim's courage, stating, “I cannot commend the victim enough for the incredible courage and determination that they have shown.“

She further emphasized the importance of victims seeking help, saying, “This is another case which demonstrates it is possible for victims to seek and receive justice.“ Detective Morris also encouraged others who may have been affected by similar offences to contact the police, assuring them that they will be supported and listened to during the process.

According to police reports, Welburn, who was originally from Telford, first initiated contact with the young boy through social media platforms. The communication involved sharing sexual messages and explicit images, which escalated over time. The offender then arranged to meet the boy regularly, engaging in sexual acts in her car and at her flat. The case underscores the risks associated with online interactions and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation and abuse.
