YUSUF HANS FROM LEEDS SENTENCED FOR ABUSING YOUNG GIRLS IN LEEDS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Leeds, Yusuf Hans, a 54-year-old man, has admitted to sexually assaulting a young girl, causing significant emotional and psychological trauma.The incident came to light after Hans was previously jailed for similar offences involving another young girl, which set the stage for further revelations.
Hans’s criminal history in Leeds includes a 28-month prison sentence handed down in June of the previous year for the sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl.
It was only after this conviction that the second victim, a girl aged 10 at the time, came forward to disclose her own abuse at the hands of Hans.
Her allegations detailed that the abuse occurred between 2017 and 2019, predating the first incident.
The second girl recounted to police that Hans had touched her genitals beneath her clothing and had asked her, “Don’t you like it?” On another occasion, he had placed his hands under her tops and stroked her chest.
Despite initially denying the allegations through a prepared statement during police interviews and giving no-comment responses to subsequent questions, Hans later admitted to the charges.
Judge Rodney Jameson KC sentenced Hans to a total of 40 months in prison, which included the original 28-month sentence and an additional 12 months for the new offences.
Furthermore, Hans was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years.
During the sentencing hearing at Leeds Crown Court, the victim’s mother delivered an emotional statement, read aloud by prosecutor David Bradshaw.
She described her daughter as a “happy, intelligent and talented child,” whose life has been profoundly affected by the abuse.
The mother expressed how these traumatic events have altered her daughter’s personality and mental health, revealing that she suffered in silence, afraid to tell her family about the abuse.
She emphasized that Hans’s actions have “ruined our happy family,” leaving scars that may never fully heal.
The mother also condemned Hans, stating, “He behaves like a caring gentleman but is a monster.” Additional details emerged from a previous case in June 2022, when a Leeds father testified about how Hans’s abuse had “ruined” his young daughter’s life.
The girl, just eight years old when the abuse began, was subjected to inappropriate touching on three occasions and was kissed by Hans on another.
Hans had admitted to four counts of sexual assault committed between August 2019 and October 2020 during an earlier hearing.
In a victim impact statement read by the father, it was revealed that the girl suffers from nightmares, screams during the night, and frequently asks “why me?” She was so distressed upon seeing Hans’s car that she could not settle for a week.
Her parents described her as feeling “dirty inside,” and expressed their heartbreak over how the abuse has affected her childhood.
When confronted, Hans initially denied the allegations but later suggested he might have “accidentally brushed” her, prompting her parents to contact the police.
Judge Robin Mairs, presiding over the case, sentenced Hans to an additional 28 months in prison and imposed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
The judge emphasized the damaging impact of introducing sexual behaviour to such a young child, highlighting the lasting scars and misplaced guilt that can result from such trauma.
Yusuf Hans’s case remains a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding children and the devastating consequences of abuse.
His actions have left deep emotional wounds on his victims and serve as a call for vigilance and justice in protecting vulnerable members of society.
