DOCTOR WHO SECRETLY FILMED SCHOOLGIRLS IN STARBUCKS STRUCK FROM REGISTER
A physician who was caught secretly filming young girls in a Starbucks located in Fife has been removed from the medical register.William Gunn was found guilty in June 2024 of breaching the peace after his conduct was deemed “disorderly” due to covertly taking photos and videos inappropriately.
He received a £700 fine from Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
At the time of the incident, Gunn was serving as a locum consultant psychiatrist with NHS Fife.
Police investigation began in January 2024 following reports that Gunn had secretly filmed and photographed three 15-year-old girls dressed in school uniform at a Starbucks in Fife Central Retail Park.
A second group of teenagers witnessed Gunn pointing his phone camera at their feet and legs.
One teenager managed to record a video showing Gunn’s mobile screen while he was filming.
The staff at Starbucks alerted the authorities.
Gunn voluntarily requested to be removed from the General Teaching Council (GMC) register.
During the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) hearing, Gunn claimed his actions were an “out of body experience” and that he was under pressure at the time.
The GMC acknowledged Gunn’s expressed remorse but noted he could not explain why he behaved that way and denied any sexual intent.
However, based on the evidence, the GMC concluded there was a probable sexual motivation behind his actions, leading to the determination that his fitness to practice was impaired.
Consequently, Gunn was removed from the medical register.
