MAN SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS IN PRISON FOR OFFENCES AGAINST WOMEN
A man aged 60 has received a sentence of 16 years in prison after being found guilty of committing violent and sexual crimes against women spanning over four decades.Philip Berry, who is from the Fife region, engaged in multiple acts of rape, attempted rape, and severe assaults on several women between 1980 and 2023.
He admitted guilt at the High Court in Edinburgh last month, and the court sentenced him on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
Detective Inspector Frank Keegan stated: "Berry is a violent and depraved sexual offender.
These women have been profoundly affected by his actions, and I hope this sentence offers them some relief.
I also want to commend the bravery of the women who shared information with the police.
Berry's conviction is thanks to their cooperation.
Police Scotland remains committed to investigating abuse regardless of when it occurred or who the perpetrator is, ensuring accountability over all cases."
