2016: TROY HARRIS JAILED FOR "FRIGHTENING" ATTACKS ON WOMEN
A MAN who repeatedly punched his partner in the stomach because he feared she was pregnant has been jailed.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard the 25-year-old, Troy Harris, also hit the 18-year-old three times in the face until she became unconscious and told her "you are not having this baby." Harris had previously put his hands around the throat of a previous partner and squeezed until she struggled for breath, and had also held a knife against her neck.
Judge Nicholas Webb stated, "You are quite probably dangerous," and indicated Harris would likely be deported back to Bermuda after serving his 51-month sentence.
Harris, of Sedgley Road, admitted two charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, two charges of common assault, and another of burgling a friend's house in Birmingham.
The court noted that Harris had used his "superior strength and power" against his victims, including believing one was pregnant.
Prosecutor Hugh Williams detailed that Harris stole computer equipment worth £3,000 from the friend’s house and that he had been desperate to send money to his ill mother in Bermuda.
Defense lawyer Christopher Roach explained Harris had quickly sold the stolen items to support his family.
