June 2007 Man failed to sign register AN Amble man who failed to sign onto the sex offenders register has been ordered to pay a total of £135. Thomas Stewart, 49, of Dandsfield Square, pleaded guilty to the offence at Alnwick Magistrates Court last week. James Long, prosecuting, told the court that Stewart had been convicted at Newcastle Crown Court of indecent assault but had failed to comply with the register’s rules. Stewart apologised to magistrates and said he should have read the back of the form. A letter from his solicitor which was read out in court said it was an “error of judgement”. He was fined 50, ordered to pay 70 costs and a victim surcharge of 15.
