June 2009 Paedophile locked up A PREDATORY paedophile who preyed on young girls by making contact with them on internet chat rooms is back behind bars. Scott Evans, 26, of Westfield Estate, Amble, conned two young teenagers into meeting him at the Silverlink Retail Park in North Shields before sexually assaulting them in the cinema and the disabled toilets. In February of this year, he was spared jail for the offences against the 14-year-old and 13-year-old girls, when Judge Beatrice Bolton said her sentencing guidelines prevented her from locking Evans up. Instead she applied a three-year community order, but Evans has now been jailed after failing to comply with the requirements. Newcastle Crown Court heard Evans was told he must attend probation sessions to deal with his drink and debt problems. But Mark Styles, prosecuting on behalf of the probation service, said Evans failed to attend the sessions as “he claimed he does not have a problem with drink and has no problem with his debts”. Evans admitted breaching his community order and was jailed for 15 months.
