THOMAS LOCKEY CAUGHT IN SCOTTISH BORDERS: PLEADS GUILTY TO OFFENCES INVOLVING UNDERAGE VICTIMS

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the Scottish Borders community, Thomas Lockey has admitted to serious criminal conduct that took place at a residence in Westside, Denholm. The incidents occurred during two separate periods, one in June 2023 and the other in February 2024, and have now been brought to justice through the local court system.

According to court proceedings, Lockey engaged in online communications via the social media platform Kik, which is known for its anonymity and popularity among younger users. Unbeknownst to him, the individual he was communicating with was an undercover operative from Police Scotland, tasked with monitoring online predators and safeguarding vulnerable minors.

During these exchanges, Lockey attempted to establish inappropriate contact with what he believed to be a 12-year-old girl. He sent explicit photographs to her and explicitly requested her to send him “naughty” pictures, crossing serious legal boundaries. The conversation also included disturbing questions, with Lockey asking the girl if she was feeling 'horny' and whether she had ever “had fun with guys,” indicating predatory intent.

It was revealed that Lockey, who currently resides at Hale near Manchester, had traveled or moved from the Scottish Borders area, but the offences were committed within the Borders region. His actions have been condemned by the court, which emphasized the gravity of his misconduct involving minors and online grooming.

As part of his sentencing, Lockey was handed an 18-month supervision order, which is a form of community payback. This measure aims to monitor his behavior and ensure he receives appropriate support and oversight to prevent any future offenses. The case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies in Scotland to combat online predatory behavior and protect children from exploitation.
