A man identified as Thomas Antony Drew has been sentenced to serve time in prison following his conviction for a serious sexual assault that took place at a residence in Southampton earlier this year. Thomas Drew, aged 26 and residing at Golden Grove in Southampton, appeared before Southampton Crown Court on Thursday, September 5. In addition to his incarceration, Drew will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a period of seven years, which imposes strict conditions aimed at preventing further offenses. The victim, a woman in her 30s, reported the assault to the police, recounting that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, February 27. She stated that she was at a house in Southampton with Drew when he forcibly engaged in sexual activity with her, resulting in her being raped. The details of the assault prompted an immediate investigation by Southampton’s Amberstone unit, a specialized team dedicated to handling reports of rape and serious sexual offenses.

Following the investigation, Drew was arrested and charged with the crimes. He subsequently appeared in court in July, where he pleaded guilty to one count of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
