JORDAN THOMAS CAMPBELL SENTENCED IN SOUTHAMPTON FOR RAPE AND STRANGULATION
A woman attempting to help Jordan Thomas Campbell was subjected to a brutal assault that left her emotionally devastated.On the evening of Friday, 16 September, she discovered Campbell injured in Southampton and, concerned for his well-being, visited his home to offer assistance.
As she was preparing to leave, Campbell became verbally aggressive and suddenly attacked her violently.
He intentionally strangled her, causing severe bruising to her face, neck, and chest, before raping her inside his residence.
The court heard that Campbell, aged 30, was later convicted of rape and intentional strangulation, which resulted in a sentence of 15 years in prison at Southampton Crown Court.
Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely.
It was revealed during the trial that Campbell and the victim knew each other.
Following the attack, Campbell harassed the woman over five days using messages, videos, voice messages, and phone calls.
This harassment led to his arrest and subsequent charges of rape, coercive and controlling behavior, and ongoing harassment.
The victim delivered a heartfelt statement, sharing that the trauma has left her feeling as though she has lost her sense of identity and no longer feels 'normal.' Detective Constable Joanne Boyd emphasized the severe impact of such crimes, praising the justice served and noting that Campbell’s actions will have lasting consequences.
The police reaffirmed their dedication to justice and encouraged victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence to seek support, assuring the public that such offenses are taken very seriously.
