THOMAS DREW SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN SOUTHAMPTON: SHOCKING CRIME AT GOLDEN GROVE RESIDENCE
A man identified as Thomas Antony Drew has been sentenced to serve time in prison following his conviction for a serious sexual assault that took place at a residence in Southampton earlier this year.The incident, which has left a lasting impact on the victim, was thoroughly investigated by local authorities, culminating in Drew’s arrest and subsequent conviction.
Thomas Drew, aged 26 and residing at Golden Grove in Southampton, appeared before Southampton Crown Court on Thursday, September 5.
During the hearing, he was handed a prison sentence of three years and four months.
In addition to his incarceration, Drew will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a period of seven years, which imposes strict conditions aimed at preventing further offenses.
Furthermore, a restraining order has been issued against him, prohibiting any contact with the victim for a duration of 15 years.
The victim, a woman in her 30s, reported the assault to the police, recounting that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, February 27.
She stated that she was at a house in Southampton with Drew when he forcibly engaged in sexual activity with her, resulting in her being raped.
The details of the assault prompted an immediate investigation by Southampton’s Amberstone unit, a specialized team dedicated to handling reports of rape and serious sexual offenses.
Following the investigation, Drew was arrested and charged with the crimes.
He subsequently appeared in court in July, where he pleaded guilty to one count of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
During the court proceedings, a statement was read aloud by the victim, expressing the profound betrayal she felt.
She described how Drew’s actions had shattered her trust and caused significant harm to her mental and physical well-being, highlighting the devastating impact of the assault.
After the sentencing, Detective Constable Georgina Harris, who led the investigation, issued a statement emphasizing the gravity of Drew’s actions.
She acknowledged the trauma inflicted upon the victim and expressed hope that the prison sentence would aid her in finding some measure of closure and begin her journey toward recovery.
