NEWPORT – SOUTHAMPTON MAN IN COURT ACCUSED OF RAPING WOMAN

A man faces charges of raping and assaulting a woman through penetration in Newport last week.

Lee Evans, aged 36, appeared before the magistrates' court in the city, accused of the alleged crimes that took place on Tuesday, May 12.

Residing on Parkville Road in Southampton, Evans did not enter a plea.

His case has been forwarded to the crown court, where he is scheduled to appear on June 12.

He remains in custody pending further proceedings.
