HACKNEY MAN STUART JARVIS SENTENCED FOR RAPE NEAR BOURNEMOUTH

A woman demonstrated extraordinary bravery by coming forward to report a sexual assault committed by Stuart Jarvis, which took place near Bournemouth. The incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, 14 February 2023, in the vicinity of Queens Park. At the time, the victim was under the influence of alcohol and was unable to give clear consent, making the situation particularly distressing and complex for investigators.

Following her report, detectives launched a thorough investigation. The woman, who was in her 40s, contacted the police on Thursday, 16 February 2023, providing crucial details about the assault. In a swift response, law enforcement officers apprehended Stuart Jarvis on the same day. He was subsequently released on bail as authorities continued to gather and scrutinize all relevant evidence to build their case.

Stuart Jarvis, aged 47 and a resident of Hackney, London, faced the judicial process at Bournemouth Crown Court. On Monday, 29 July 2024, he entered a guilty plea to the charge of rape. The court, recognizing the severity of the offense, sentenced him to a term of seven years and six months on Tuesday, 13 May 2025. The sentencing marked a significant step in the pursuit of justice for the victim and underscored the seriousness with which such crimes are treated.

Detective Constable Tasha Beaufils, a representative of the Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP) Criminal Investigation Department, expressed her commendation for the victim’s courage. She stated, “The victim has shown immense bravery and courage by coming forward to report what happened to her and also for supporting our investigation and the court process.”

She further emphasized the gravity of the offense, saying, “Stuart Jarvis chose to take advantage of the victim in an abhorrent way while she was intoxicated and vulnerable. Nobody should have to experience what she did, and I am pleased that the defendant is now facing the consequences of his actions.”

Detective Beaufils concluded with a call to action, highlighting the importance of reporting sexual offenses. “We take all reports of sexual offences extremely seriously and would urge anyone who has been the victim of a sexual assault to please come forward and report it to us. We always ensure victims are supported by specially-trained officers and will do everything in our power to identify those responsible and hold them to account.”
