STEVEN THOMAS SCOTT SENTENCED IN SOUTHAMPTON FOR CHILD INDECENCY OFFENSES
Steven Thomas Scott, aged 39 and from Chiltern Green, was found to possess over 5,000 indecent images of minors stored across various hard drives.These images ranged from the most severe Category A to less serious Category C classifications.
In addition, he had nearly 300 prohibited images, consisting of both photographs and videos of children.
The police identified Scott during an investigation into users of a file-sharing network, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
He appeared at Southampton Crown Court charged with three counts of making indecent photographs of a child, one count of distributing such images, and possession of a prohibited image.
Scott had previously pleaded guilty to these offenses, which occurred between April and December of 2019.
During the hearing, his defense lawyer, Ed Warren, highlighted Scott’s mental health issues as part of his mitigation.
The judge, Peter Henry, described the images as disturbing and revolting but noted there was a realistic chance for rehabilitation.
Scott was sentenced to nine months in prison, suspended for two years.
He is also required to complete 43 sessions on an accredited sexual offender group work programme and participate in 60 days of rehabilitative activities.
Additionally, Scott was ordered to perform 100 hours of unpaid community work within the next 12 months.
